Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 12, 2026

Last Updated: March 12, 2026

1. Introduction

MI Division ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Impulse Noise Decibel Meter mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

a. Microphone Data

The App accesses your device's microphone solely to measure ambient sound levels (decibels) in real time. All audio data is processed locally on your device to calculate dB readings. We do not record, store, or transmit any audio data to our servers or any third party. The microphone is only active while the App is open and in the foreground.

b. Personal Information

We do not collect any personal information, account details, or user identifiers. The App does not require registration or sign-in.

3. Third-Party Services

The App does not currently integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. No data is shared with or collected by third-party services through the App.

If we integrate third-party services in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we access to:

  • Provide the App's core functionality of measuring ambient sound levels in decibels
  • Display real-time dB readings, statistics, and sound level visualizations
  • Apply audio weighting filters (A, C, and Z/Linear) for accurate measurements

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share any user information with third parties. Since the App does not collect or transmit any data, there is no data to share. Data may only be disclosed in the following limited circumstances:

  • When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of MI Division, our users, or the public

6. Data Security

All audio data processed by the App remains on your device and is handled in memory only. No data is stored persistently or transmitted externally. Since no personal data is collected or stored, the risk of unauthorized access to your information through our App is minimal.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

The App does not store any data persistently. All audio measurements and statistics are processed in real time and held in temporary memory only. When you close the App, all measurement data is discarded. You can remove all App data at any time by clearing the App's data in your device settings or by uninstalling the App.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the App does not collect any personal information from any user, no special provisions for children's data are required.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your personal data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

Since the App does not collect or store any personal data, these rights are inherently respected. You may revoke microphone access at any time through your device settings. To exercise any of these rights or for any inquiries, please contact us at the email address below.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

The App and all information, content, and features are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MI Division disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MI Division shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (a) your use or inability to use the App; (b) any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in the App's content or functionality, including but not limited to decibel readings, sound level measurements, or calibration data; or (c) any other matter relating to the App.

The App is intended as a general-purpose sound level measurement tool only and must not be relied upon as a certified or calibrated instrument for professional, legal, occupational safety, or regulatory compliance purposes. Users are solely responsible for verifying all measurements through independent, certified equipment where accuracy is critical.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
